What we do
Ocean Opportunity, a 501(c)3 not for profit organization, established its 'Exploration Technologies Group (eXTG)' as an educational platform to address the need for the development and application of advanced technologies for manned intervention of our oceans.
The eXTG's initial priority focus is development and demonstration of a hybrid life support system; the iLS (integrated Life System). more...
Information gathered for and learned from this project is being collated in a series of technical documents entitled 'Principles of Design'.
As seen in 'the SLATE', the newsletter of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences!
The eXTG intends to meet its mission through the following:
.: develop and demonstrate a series of model platform technologies for manned exploration efficiency
.: create a vehicle to commercialize these platform technologies as a means to reach project sustainability
.: extensively publish gray, white, and technical papers on this subject to reach, inform, and educate consumers, manufacturers, and those compiling standards for related technologies and techniques in this emerging area
.: provide a central information resource for, and work towards, influencing the standardization and routine implementation of advanced manned scientific and exploration diving
The eXTG is a direct response to recent national and international initiatives in ocean exploration, including those stemming from US Congress. This work has implications in port/harbor security, coastal defense, and scientific & commercial scale exploration.
